DCA Editions & Publications return from successful trip to London Original Print Fair
19 May 2010
DCA Editions & Publications department are back in the fold after a successful trip to London Original Print Fair.
All of the editions shown were produced by the selected artists using our own print studio facilities at DCA. We launched two new editions by Katy Dove and Graham Fagen, which proved popular. Another key sale was of one last available edition by Anya Gallaccio - the very first edition that was commissioned as part of our editions series at DCA.
Sandra DeRycker, Editions & Publications Co-ordinator said:
"The fair was consistently busy and went very well and visitors to our stand ranged from young collectors and printmakers to established collectors, and institutions. It was also a good vehicle for catching up with people that had purchased our editions for their collections in the past.
Sales were fairly good, although I think we are still feeling the uncertainty of the financial climate and perhaps having to be more generous and flexible with discounts than we have been before! We also operate the Arts Council's interest free loan scheme for art 'Own Art', which was helpful in this climate and for young beginner collectors - we gave out a lot of Own Art information on the stand! Prices of our editions range from £45 to £2000.
Some of the comments we got suggested that DCA's stand was perceived as very contemporary, with challenging and fresh work from very current artists. It felt like we were also slightly different to many stands in that we are a non-profit institution and that the editions we sell all relate to key artists within DCA's curated exhibitions programme."
All the funds from editions we sell go towards future projects at DCA.
