Discovery Film Festival, Scotland's International Film Festival for Children and Young People, will take place from 22 October - 6 November 2011.

This year's festival features a packed programme of exciting new films from around the world, plus a few home-grown hits too. A special exhibition and film-related workshops, fun events and competitions are also on offer, with opportunities for aspiring writers, producers and directors, as well as those who simply love a good movie.

Highlights include award-winning French animation A Cat in Paris; the quirky and adorable Norwegian blockbuster Twigson, and the ever-popular Shorts for Wee Ones, featuring short films from as far afield as Brazil. The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, Steven Spielberg’s 3D take on Georges Hergé’s classic comics, will be introduced in a special screening by Dr Chris Murray. Louder Than a Bomb will bring slam poetry to the festival, and epic murder story On the Ice will bring it to a close.
