Games designers share their work at Discovery Film Festival
31 October 2012
On Sunday 4 November games designers from Dundee and beyond will be at DCA to reveal their latest creations and answer questions about their work. If you're a keen gamer or you'd like to find out more, come along to Drop in and Play from 16:00 – 18:00 to test the games themselves and find out more about working in the industry. The event has been arranged to coincide with a special screening of documentary Indie Game: The Movie as part of Discovery Film Festival and NEoN Digital Arts Festival.
Drop in and Play will bring together a group of highly experienced designers. Jonathan Brodsky is a member of Scottish creative studio Lucky Frame, who specialise in games with a musical twist. He will be showing the company’s BAFTA-nominated game Bad Hotel as well as previewing their latest creation, Wave Trip. Romana Ramzan from Dundee-based company Denki will unveil Save the Day, an HTML5 browser-based twitch arcade game that delivers an authentic console experience directly in the browser. Tom De Majo and Erin Michno make up the team at Quartic Llama, who currently receive funding from the Prototype Fund at the University of Abertay, Dundee. They will be offering a chance to try out their second game, Moeba. Finally, Danish designer and commentator Dr Pippin Barr will show a range of his flash-based games and discuss his book, How to Play a Videogame.
