Making art at DCA

DCA is not just about exhibitions and cinema. It is also a place to make art. Lots of artists use our Print Studio every week to create high quality print editions, working with our friendly and experienced technical team.

You may have seen some of the prints they have produced on show around the building and it’s possible to learn more about the processes involved by taking part in one of our regular courses that are listed in this guide. We also have traditional photographic darkrooms as well as resources for digital scanning, image manipulation and printing.

Print Studio

The Print Studio offers general open access facilities for the production of print-based artworks for professional artists, amateur artists and beginners. The workshop space provides equipment of diversity, range and scale unparalleled in the UK. You can also choose from a fantastic range of courses, led by friendly and experienced tutors. If you can’t find the best class for you, you can also arrange one-to-one tuition with us at very reasonable rates. Find out more on our Courses and Workshops page.

Artists resources

As well as working directly with artists, DCA works in partnership with a number of other organisations who work to support artists and the development of their practice. Find out more in this section.

Digital Resources

DCA has a range of digital resources which are available for use in the Print Studio. Thanks to a successful application to Creative Scotland, we have invested £75,000 in new technology to be embedded with our traditional print equipment. .
