Print Studio
New users are always very welcome, but we ask that individuals wishing to have hands on use of the facility should first become registered. On registering, users receive a Users Guide and Conditions of Usage and take part in an induction course which outlines the systems relating to booking of equipment, payment for use of the studio space and equipment, health and safety information and procedures, education and other opportunities.
NB By 'hands on' use we mean open or supervised access for user groups to printmaking, photographic and digital imaging production facilities.
The Print Studio is located on Level 3 of DCA. Access is through the cafe bar, which has stairs to the front and rear of the building. There is also lift access to this floor from all other entrances and exits to the building. The studio has a toilet with facilities for disabled people.
The studio is designed to ensure that it is a flexible working environment with professional equipment which may be safely used by trained non-professionals. It has low-level working and storage with wide access routes to facilitate wheelchair manoeuvrability and ease of use by people with mobility impairment. The studio also has excellent natural and artificial light conditions.
The is a staff rota board that clearly indicates which member of staff is on duty and available for consultation, troubleshooting and the sale of materials. Staff members are not available for consultation when carrying out other studio business such as editioning. Staff members also use the studio outwith their normal working hours to produce their own work.
