Pre-Opera Talk with Andrew Roger: Götterdämmerung

Sat 11 February

Meeting Room

Join us for a pre-opera talk with Andrew Roger, tutor of Opera Appreciation courses at Dundee University.

Andrew will provide an introduction to the evening’s performance, discussing its history, composer, notable productions and key highlights.

"Now that you are all avid Wagnerians, you'll be desperate to find out how the Ring Cycle ends! It is time for the massive, awesome conclusion with Götterdämmerung, the Twilight of the Gods. Some would say that Wagner saved the best for last and few can fail to be stirred by the strains of Siegfriend's Funeral March and Brunnhilde's Immolation scene. It is doubtful if any other role demands as much of a singer as Brunnhilde in the Ring. This is the Everest of the soprano repertoire. Fasten your seatbelts for this earth-shattering climax." - Andrew

Tea and coffee will be served. Talk lasts until 30 minutes before the opera is due to start. Tickets are £5 per person – book now on 01382 909900.

Time: 15:45-16:30
