DUNDEAD 2018 on sale

13 April 2018

Gruesomely good news, horror fans! Dundead returns to DCA for an eighth year from Thu 10 - Sun 13 May. Enjoy a fantastically frightening mix of seven hot new previews alongside a spine-tingling retrospective of Tobe Hooper favourites. This year's line-up guarantees a bloody good time for both serious horror buffs and cinema-goers looking for weekend kicks.

Check out the full list of Dundead 2018 films here.

The festival opens on Thu 10 May with the legendary Dundead film quiz, where teams can put their horror knowledge to the test for a chance to win must-have prizes plus, of course, eternal Dundead glory!

Then house lights will dim for a blockbuster opening night double-whammy – a special preview of doomsday cult mystery The Endless, directed by and starring Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, then the all-out splatterfest of 1974’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

There’ll be more preview screenings of rare titles throughout the weekend, including The Cured, a smart twist on the zombie genre; M.F.A., the story of an art student turned brutal vigilante; My Friend Dahmer, the chilling backstory of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, plus surreal Japanese shocker Vampire Clay – we’ll leave that one to your imagination…

Vintage gems include three more Tobe Hooper titles – Eaten Alive, starring a ravenous Nile crocodile; The Funhouse, which proves less-than-fun for some naïve ‘80s teens; and sci-fi space-vampire romp Lifeforce.

For more family-friendly frights, 1932’s The Old Dark House is a comic horror film that established all those fabulous cinematic tropes around big creaky houses on dark, stormy nights. Jim Henson’s beloved tale The Dark Crystal is a mystical treat, filled with magic and sensational pre-CGI fantasy characters – just right for a nostalgic Saturday afternoon.

Festival programmer Christopher O’Neill, said:

“Dundead Film Festival is now in its eighth year and it's going from strength to strength with yet another exciting line-up of new movies and a fine selection of classics.

We could not let this year's festival pass without paying tribute to one of the most influential filmmakers of the horror genre. Tobe Hooper passed away last August which is a tragedy, but he left behind some wonderful movies and we know the Dundead audience are going to enjoy revisiting The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Eaten Alive, The Funhouse and Lifeforce digitally restored, uncensored and on the big screen.

Thanks Christopher - bring on the scares!
