Showing your work at DCA

DCA has a small curatorial team whose job is to put together the exhibitions that take place in our galleries. During the course of a year we show the work of approximately 10 - 20 artists in 5 or 6 exhibitions. All of the work we show has been specifically located by the curatorial team who visit other exhibitions and artists studios to put together the final exhibition that is seen here. Although we are interested in the work of new and emerging artists we are not in a position to respond to cold-call portfolios or unsolicited exhibition proposals. The best way to make the team aware of your work is to make sure we receive invitations to exhibitions - and also to make sure your work is reviewed whenever possible as third-party endorsements are valuable to getting your work known.

Generator Projects

Dundee is also home to Generator Projects, an artist-run organisation with a gallery located about five minutes walk from DCA. Generator organise a number of exhibitions each year, often featuring recent graduates or members. Membership is open to anyone working as an artist. It is possible to contact Generator at mail@generatorprojects.co.uk.

Dundee Visual Artists Awards

The Dundee Visual Artists Awards Scheme is a partnership between the Scottish Arts Council and Dundee City Council. The Scheme was established in 2000 to support the work of outstanding Dundee-based artists by awarding grants towards the cost involved in researching and creating new work. It is hoped that the Scheme will encourage artists to stay in the city and that the existence of the Scheme will raise the profile of Dundee-based artists at a local, national and even international level.
