What to Expect

Designed by Richard Murphy, DCA was voted the Best Building of the Nineties by the public poll run by Dundee Institute of Architects. It’s a vibrant building with five floors, flooded with light during the day and buzzing with atmosphere in the evening.

Come in the front entrance on Nethergate and you’ll find:

  • Reception Desk
  • Shop
  • Information Space
  • Galleries (where the internationally-acclaimed exhibitions are always free of charge)
  • Activity Room
  • Public Toilets, changing facilities and breastfeeding room

Go downstairs (or down to level 3 in the lift) to find:

  • Cinemas 1 and 2
  • Print Studio
  • Jute Café Bar, including the patio, Dundee’s finest outdoor social space
  • Toilets

Down to level 2 for:

  • Visual Research Centre, part of the University of Dundee

Up to level 5 for:

  • The Meeting Room
  • Staff from Dundee City Council’s Leisure and Communities Department

Ground floor:

  • Out to Greenmarket and the car parks.

Enter DCA from the back and use the stairs or the lift to get into the building.
