My main interests are always the sculptural forms in space, the relationship of three dimensional forms to a two-dimensional image, the idea of human scale in relation to architecture and the figure as the historical origin of sculpture.’
Camilla Løw

The DCA 2008 exhibition Straight Letters presented new work by Camilla Løw created specifically for the DCA galleries together with recent sculpture, later travelling to the Pier Arts Centre, Orkney. The artist’s first solo exhibition in the U.K., the title Straight Letters reflects her particular interest in the relationship between typography, architecture and sculpture.

These limited edition prints were produced by the artist in the Print Studio and Untitled (black) was shown in the gallery. These bodies of work are reminiscent of the purist forms of Minimalist or Constructivist works, whilst allowing references to industrial fabrication and contemporary art histories. These beautiful prints capture translucent planes of shifting colour suspended within the page.

Born in Oslo in 1976, Camilla Løw studied at Glasgow School of Art and, having lived in San Francisco, is now based in Norway, where she received the prestigious Statoil Prize in 2007. Recent solo exhibitions include Sutton Lane, London; and Elastic Gallery, Malmo, Sweden
