Jakob Kolding's interest is in the relationship between the design and use of public space. His work combines basic collage techniques with an expert manipulation of text that raises questions of how urban spaces are structured and inhabited today.

Kolding’s work was featured in the exhibition Plunder at DCA in 2003 and he worked with the Print Studio during this time to create these urban, poster-style screen prints. The layered nature of the found images used in these prints is reminiscent of the collage used in his other works and recalls the ubiquitous billboards and posters found in our city streets. The text and images within Kolding's prints include familiar references to our everyday urban environments and prompt us to question our perceptions of the underlying social codes and city structures that influence our day to day behaviour.

Jakob Kolding was born in 1971 in Albertslund, Denmark, and lives and works in Berlin. As well as being selected for exhibition at the 50th Venice Biennale he has exhibited at South London Gallery, London; Team Gallery, New York; and Galleri Nicolai Wallner, Copenhagen.
