Coco

Lee Unkrich, Adrian Molina

The latest film to be produced by Pixar Animation Studios is based on the Mexican holiday of Día de Muertos, the Day of the Dead, when families gather together to remember loved ones who have died.

Miguel dreams of becoming a musician but is being thwarted by his family’s generations-old ban on music. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel takes one chance too many and finds himself falling under an ancient curse which transports him to the Land of the Dead. On his quest to return to his family, Miguel meets charming trickster Hector, and together they set off on an extraordinary journey.

Winner of the Best Animated Feature title at this year’s Golden Globes, the film offers a vivid depiction of Mexican culture, as well as a vibrant music score. With its themes of family and pursuing your dreams, Coco picks up where the 2014 Discovery favourite The Book Of Life left off, whisking us into a new world of colour, excitement and... skeletons.
