Drop in and Play Jnr
11:00 - 14:00
Drop in and discover a range of games suitable for ages 15 and under in this special event celebrating Dundee's new status as UNESCO City of Design in partnership with Abertay University.
There will be ten different games to try, with everything from high profile blockbusters to experimental new designs. Confirmed participants include 4J Studios, who will show their hugely successful Xbox 360 version of Minecraft. Five Pixels, a group of young developers from Abertay University, will show Seek; an exploration game in which players must reunite a group of friends to reveal the secrets of a forgotten island.
Albert Elwin’s Nova explores the formation and evolution of stars, while César Parent’s Ghosts is a simple game in which the player must avoid a pack of ghosts for as long as possible.
The event will also offer a chance to find out about DCA’s Code Club, a UK-wide initiative offering a programme of after school learning which teaches 9-11 year-olds how to start coding and creating their own games, delivered by volunteer tutors from industry and education. DCA in partnership with local company brightsolid, engages children in a weekly club and has also helped teachers to establish 17 new clubs in schools across the city.
