It was an unbelievable ten years ago when we first experienced the pure joy of Meryl Streep performing Abba hits on the fictional Greek island of Kalokairi. This summer, we’ve been invited back for the brand new all-singing, all-dancing (and superbly titled!) sequel. With new director and screenwriter Ol Parker (the writer behind the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel films), this is real sunshine cinema and is sure to leave you tapping your toes.

"...this is real sunshine cinema and is sure to leave you tapping your toes."

Part sequel and part prequel, the story picks up after the end of the last film, with Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) expecting her first child. As she comes to terms with this huge change, she learns all about her mother Donna’s (Streep) past and how she met the three men who may or may not be her biological father. Whizzing back to 1979, we see Donna as a young woman finding her feet, played by Downton Abbey's Lily James (last seen at DCA in The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society). There is so much fun to be had watching younger versions of the key players like Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Julie Walters, all in 1970s fashion. Meanwhile, in the present, as everyone heads back to the island, Sophie is confronted with an unexpected visitor; her glamourous estranged grandmother, played by none other than Cher!

Come join us for the perfect summer cocktail of sun, sea and Scandinavian pop songs!
