Explore the creative possibilities of this colourful, graphic and immediate approach to making repeat prints, popularised by Warhol.
What will be covered?
We'll start with a brief tour of the Print Studio, then look at the basics of screenprinting, including the technique of pulling a screen print, making simple paper stencils to create an image, using Screen Filler & Drawing Fluid to paint directly onto the screen to create more sophisticated stencils and working in layers.
What should I bring?
You don’t need to bring anything, but some ideas or general inspiration may help.
What should I wear?
Wear old clothes, as some inks used may not wash out. Aprons are provided. Please note no sandals or open-toed footwear in the Print Studio.
What should I expect?
The aim is to leave with a basic knowledge of screen printing and the confidence to build on this and experiment. Hopefully you will be pleased with your results but the main aim is to learn the skills and have fun! At the end of the course your tutor will chat about the Screen Printing (Intermediate) course which is a popular follow on from the January course, or the Advanced Screen Printing weekend which follows the March course.
