Loosely inspired by Arthur Schnitzler’s classic La Ronde, filmmaker Meirelles (City Of God) and his screenwriter Peter Morgan (The Queen) have constructed a contemporary medley about love, fate and friendship which criss-crosses the globe on a whirlwind tour of locations including London, Vienna, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Phoenix and Bratislava.
Although the ensemble cast includes some big names – Anthony Hopkins, Jude Law and Rachel Weisz – they are simply a handful of the acting talent on offer in these rich and varied stories. Plotlines loosely intersect, as decisions made by characters in one country impact on a narrative in another. Sexual politics feature large as do unhappy unions and unexpected second chances.
The moral of the film seems to be that we should all keep our eyes open for the opportunities life can put in our path and seize the moment for change when it is offered. Elegantly constructed, 360 will take you full circle through a range of emotions.
