Forbidden Planet is one of the great classic science fiction movies of the '50s, with special effects that are still impressive and the first entirely electronic film score. Leslie Nielsen plays Adams, the commander of a spaceship sent to the planet Altair-4 in the year 2000 to investigate the destruction of most of its inhabitants. Adams and his crew find two human survivors and their companion Robby the Robot (for many the real star of the film). Soon after the crew arrives the terrifying monster responsible for wiping out the colony reappears. Robby the Robot is the film's most delightful invention, a benign creation fluent in 88 languages and capable of almost any task.
