Frankenweenie (2D) (PG)

Who among us hasn’t wished we could bring a beloved pet back to life? Tim Burton certainly has. Taking his cues from classic literature and horror films, and using his own 1984 live action short as inspiration, Burton has created Frankenweenie, an unusual take on the story of one boy and his loyal dog.

After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life – with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town learn that getting a new ‘leash on life’ can be monstrous.

With a voice cast that includes Winona Ryder, Martin Landau, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short and Sir Christopher Lee, Frankenweenie is a glorious black and white Halloween treat the whole family can enjoy. With a screenplay written by long-time Burton collaborator John August (Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride), this is a story of transformation that will appeal to the gothic kid in all of us.
