Alex Frost is one of the most distinctive artists working in Scotland today and DCA is proud to present his largest exhibition to date. The Connoisseurs is an exhibition defined by the seemingly disparate series of artworks that Alex undertakes – from intricate murals to polymer clay sculpture to his multiple approaches to drawing. The Connoisseurs presents a configuration of numerous distinct references: digital technology, food science, community craft workshops, dystopian fiction and macro economics.

Agnes Varda, the grande dame of the nouvelle vague, is the glaneuse of the title. Varda's empathic eye relates her gleaning with a camera to that of the people who collect things which others have discarded. The documentary is a celebration of simpler lifestyles over modern consumerism and the film is itself an antidote to mainstream commercial cinema.
