Pre-Opera talk with Andrew Roger: Un Ballo in Maschera
Saturday 8th December 2012
Meeting Room
Join us for a pre-opera talk with Andrew Roger, tutor of Opera Appreciation courses at Dundee University.
Andrew will provide an introduction to the evening’s performance, discussing its history, composer, notable productions and key highlights.
"Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera tells the story of a love triangle against a background of political intrigue. This has everything a good opera needs - action, foreboding, deceit, surprise and, of course, murder. There is also a tragicomic character to the score, with its rollicking sailors' choruses and its sprightly music for the cheeky page as well as the passionate love music and the bloody denouement." - Andrew.
Tea and coffee will be served. Talk lasts until 30 minutes before the opera is due to start. Tickets are £5 per person – book now on 01382 909900
Time: 16:45 - 17:30
Price: £5.00
