Family Activity at DCA

Find out what's on for families during April and download our Family Activity Calendar

We host many fun activities for families at DCA, from film screenings and workshops, to free creative activities for all ages and online resources. To make it as easy as possible for you to plan your family trip, our monthly calendar brings everything together in one place.

The school holidays are here and we've got plenty of family fun to keep the wee ones entertained. Head to DCA Cinema for films that the whole family can enjoy together, plus Create Space offers a free, drop-in space filled with activities, art materials and books. This month also sees the opening of Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood. This major group exhibition brings together the joys, heartaches, myths, mess and mishaps of motherhood through over 100 artworks and brings with it a programme of special events.

If you're coming along to DCA to enjoy some family activity, don't forget that you can extend your visit with lunch in Jute Café Bar (you can even colour in the kids menu) and a trip to our shop, which stocks some great toys, books and pocket money friendly games.

Download our Family Activity Calendar below, where you'll find dates and times for all of our upcoming events as well as the opening hours for Create Space. You can also scroll down to book for some of our highlights.

In the Cinema

We've got a great selection of family films to enjoy in the cinema over the school holidays. There are a few more screenings of Disney's Snow White, which visitors are calling "nostalgic" and "really good". A Minecarft Movie is the next big feature to hit our screens. Starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black, this exciting adventure sees four misfits pulled through a portal to a cubic world that thrives on imagination.

And we're delighted to be screening Oscar-winning animation Flow, which follows a small cat going on a mystical journey and collecting lots of new friends along the way. Our Discovery Family Film Club and Relaxed screenings are nearly sold out but we have plenty more standard screenings to enjoy. And finally, we're revisiting an old classic, as Babe celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Join us in Create Space during the holidays for fun activities before we give the space a refresh to coincide with our exhibition Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood.
