20 Stories for 20 Years of DCA: Nkem Okwechime

21 May 2019

As part of our birthday celebrations, we're delighted to share 20 Stories for 20 Years, where we'll hear from people who have been involved with and integral to DCA over the last two decades: from artists to filmmakers and staff to audience members.

We're delighted to share the second in the series, where we catch up with Nkem Okwechime, artist and printmaker, who is currently studying at Glasgow School of Art. Nkem got the printmaking bug after attending our Andy Warhol Class and discusses how our spending time in DCA Print Studio helped him achieve his goals, including starting his own t-shirt business, M.R.L.C.

Thanks, Nkem! We'll be sharing more of these exciting stories in the upcoming weeks, so watch keep an eye on our social media and website to see who's up next! To see our previous interview and introduction from Beth Bate, see here

Notes on Young Creatives' to Creative Scotland's Cashback for Creativity scheme: Running in 2015/16, this provided supported time and professional expertise to develop creative skills and ambition. DCA supported two young men to work with DCA Print Studio and present their learning and work in an exhibition at WASPS Studios. We also ran 8 taster sessions for individuals and groups who would not normally be able to access this kind of work.
