Animation Taster
#DCAmakes
22 June 2020
This week’s edition of Monday Makes is all about having fun and experimenting with animation.
We've been feeling inspired after watching the animated films we've been sharing every Wednesday for Discovery Short of the Week. These are all films that have been shown at Discovery Film Festival over the years. They use a number of different animation styles and deal with lots of different subject matter.
Our Learning team use animation for lots of workshops and projects. One of these is Animating Science, a long running project with University of Dundee School of Life Sciences where we work with primary school pupils and teachers to create science-focused animations. The team uses many different animation techniques ranging from 19th century zoetropes and flickbooks to stop motion. For this make, we're focusing on using stop motion animation and time-lapse to create short films.
Take a look at our Animation Taster video to see some examples of animation made at DCA and learn about an app that you can use to make your moving image masterpiece!
We've got more tips to help you make your animation here. We'd love to see what you create - share your film with us using #DCAmakes.
