Festive opening hours and events at DCA

December 2021

1 December 2021

It's the most wonderful time of the year! And where better to celebrate the season than DCA? We can't wait to welcome you for art, films, shopping and more this month – here's a round up of what's coming up, plus a note of our festive opening hours so you can plan your visit.

Escape the stress of Christmas preparations for a few hours at DCA Cinema – we've got a trio of gorgeous festive screenings you'll love. The Shop Around the Corner is an often-overlooked vintage gem; a romantic comedy directed by Ernst Lubitsch that's a warmly affectionate study of the love, loneliness and friendship shared between a group of shop-workers in Budapest one Christmas. Of course we're showing It's a Wonderful Life, and it's going to be better than ever! This year we're delighted to bring you a brand new 4K print of the Frank Capra classic, and for the first time we're able to provide audio description and captioned screenings so that everyone can enjoy this traditional Christmas staple.

Another festive delight is Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker, and we have an absolute treat for you in the form of the Bolshoi Ballet's production of this perennial favourite. On Christmas Eve, Marie receives a magical gift from her godfather that swiftly leads her into a whirlwind adventure. Don't miss this chance to enjoy a traditional ballet masterpiece on the big screen.

Need to do some Christmas shopping? We've got you covered. Browse and buy unique gifts, cards, decorations, publications and limited edition artworks in DCA Shop, both online and in store. Stuck for gift ides? Take a look at our Gift Guide for inspiration to suit a variety of budgets.
