Discovery Short of the Week

Perfect Houseguest

1 April 2020

We miss seeing our younger film fans at Discovery Family Film Club, so here's the next best thing – Discovery Short of the Week!

Each week, we'll share one of our favourite short films for you to watch online, then you can join in with a fun creative activity from our school resource pack.

First up, here's Perfect Houseguest, a favourite from Discovery Film Festival. Festival producer Mike Tait says:

"This little gem was part of Discovery's Shorts For Wee Ones back in 2016, I don't think any of us realised at that time how far-sighted the mouse's use of antibacterial gel was! Conceived, written, designed, directed and edited by American animators Ru Kuwahata and Max Porter, this short has been seen in over 100 film festivals around the world."

Once you've watched the film, click below to download a Perfect Houseguest activity sheet, originally from our school resource pack created by Lynsey Dick. There are some questions that children can enjoy thinking about and a creative drawing activity. You don't need to print anything out – just use paper and any drawing materials you like!

We'd love to see your drawings and hear what you think about this short film! Use the hashtag #DCAMakes to share on Twitter, Instagram, or on our fab Discovery: Families at DCA Facebook page. We'll see you again next Wednesday with another Discovery Short of the Week!

If you enjoyed this, please consider donating £1 to DCA to help us keep enriching people's lives through art, culture and creativity.
