Games announced for Drop in and Play at Pecha Kucha Dundee Vol 10

Dundee Contemporary Arts and Creative Dundee are excited to announce the full list of developers taking part in a special gaming event as part of Pecha Kucha Night Dundee Volume 10.

Drop in and Play is a showcase of work by local games developers and is an opportunity for members of the public to play games and meet the people who created them. Previously held at DCA, the popular gaming event will return on Tue 4 November from 18:00-19:30 and again between 20:30-20:50 at Bonar Hall as part of PKN Dundee. Drop in and Play is free to attend but tickets are required to watch the Pecha Kucha presentations, find out more about tickets at the Creative Dundee website

A group of 10 local games design companies and independent designers will showcase new and recent work, with some previewing work not yet on general release. Companies taking part include: Guerilla Tea showing their recently released game Incandescence; Five Pixels who will be showing their game Seek which won The Foundry's Artistic Achievement Award at Dare ProtoPlay 2014; Hidden Armada who will be showing Mutiny! a title they currently fundraising for on Kickstarter. 

The event will also give local residents the chance to play Strawberry Thief, the game created by Sophia George during her role as the V&A's first ever Game Designer in Residence.

For the first time Drop in and Play will also feature a board game, Outbreak by Innerspace Games, which invites players to search for survivors of an alien containment failure on a circular space ship. Other games developers taking part are Dyno Games, Tether Games, Fox wot I drew, Future Fossil Studios and Space Budgie.

Lyall Bruce, Director of Creative Dundee said: “Games are a huge part of Dundee’s creative scene and Drop in and Play is the perfect way of getting the public to experience games that are still in development. To work with the DCA to bring Drop in and Play to Pecha Kucha Vol 10 is hugely exciting for us and a great way to mark PKN Dundee’s third birthday.”

Drop in and Play is a regular gaming event which was first held at DCA in November 2012 as part of NEoN Digital Arts festival and Discovery Film Festival. Drop in and Play is a DCA led even presented in partnership with Creative Dundee as part of NEoN Digital Arts Festival.
