Get Creative in 2022 with new Print Studio Courses

#DCAPrintStudio

16 December 2021

Whether you're looking for a last minute Christmas gift or your New Year's resolution is to learn a new skill, our new January - March 2022 Get Creative programme includes a whole host of evening, weekend, and one-day workshops to choose from.

All of our courses are suitable for beginners and many are running more than once, so it's even easier to find something to suit your schedule. Popular choices, including Introduction to Screen Printing and Riso Printing (Beginners), are back alongside our first Signwriting and Mezzotint courses since reopening. If you are looking to purchase as a gift, you can book a certain course and forward the info onto the recipient, or gift vouchers can be bought from Box Office and used for Print Studio courses.

Here's a look at what's coming up...

Letterpress

They're back
We're delighted to have space to bring back more courses that haven't run since pre-pandemic times. Mezzotint is a relatively new one-day workshop which results in wonderfully atmospheric images, Brian Robertson returns to teach our introductory Signwriting weekend course, John Easson of Quarto Press joins us for Letterpress Introduction, and you can have a go at an early photographic process with our one-day Argyrotype class.

One-day workshops
Learn a new skill over the course of just one day. Perfect for beginners, we have three new dates for Introduction to Screen Printing and two dates for our Introduction to Lino Cutting. There's also the opportunity to create vivid blue prints with artist Kit Martin in Cyanotype on Paper. For those with a keen interest in photography, Photography Forum returns on the last Saturday of each month in January, February and March.

Lino Printing

Weekend classes
Enjoy a weekend filled with creativity on our two-day courses. Get digital and improve your photography and editing skills with Introduction to Adobe Lightroom, Get Off Auto, or Introduction to Adobe Photoshop. If you'd like to try something more hands on, spend a weekend printmaking and creating a portfolio or work at Reduction Lino Printing with Liz Myhill.

Evening courses
For those who really want to get stuck into a process, our evening courses range from three to six weeks in. Watch your skills develop over the weeks with Wood Engraving with Beth Robertson, have a go at one of our newest courses: MiScreen, brighten up winter by creating vibrant prints during Riso Printing (Beginners), or learn how to create beautiful prints using metal plates with Etching (Beginners).

Upon completion of any of these workshops, you'll be entitled to registration as a Print Studio Registered User. This means you'll be able to use the facilities to practise and develop your skills. Alternatively, you can book one-to-one tuition on any of our processes. Find out more here or email the Print Studio team at printstudio@dca.org.uk.

We can't wait to welcome you into DCA Print Studio in the new year and help you have a creative start to 2022!
