Get Creative in DCA Print Studio: July - September 2022

2 June 2022

Spend some time getting creative in DCA Print Studio with our new programme of summer courses and workshops!

Taking you from July to September, we’re excited to bring you some brand new courses alongside a great selection of introductory, beginner and taster classes, including some returning favourites. For those who have visited before, there's the chance to expand your skills further with intermediate and follow-on courses. And for this round of computer based courses, we're looking forward to welcoming you into our new Digital Suite.

Download our Get Creative leaflet here or read on to find out what's coming up...

New courses
We have not one, not two, but three brand new classes for you! Created thanks to visitor feedback, Introduction to Wood Engraving is a one-day workshop that will introduce you to this wonderful form of printmaking. Taking place in our new Digital Suite, Digital Video Editing with Adobe Premiere Pro will help you create slick videos. And in our weekend Mokulito course, artist Susannah Oliver will help you explore this form of lithography developed in 1970s Japan.

Returning favourites
Our ever popular Andy Warhol Class is back! Join us to create colourful prints in the form of Warhol's famous portraits. Also returning for this session are Collagraphy, the original recycling technique that uses card, textures and materials collaged together to make versatile printing plates, and Bookbinding from Tokyo to Timbuktu which explores ancient traditions that span two continents.

Introductory & beginners
Get started with a new technique with our range of one-day workshops and beginners courses. There's Etching (Beginners), Mezzotint and Cyanotype on Paper, plus Introduction to Lino Cutting and Introduction to Screen Printing (make sure you book early for this one as spaces always go fast).

Expand your skills
Completed our Introduction to Screen Printing course (or similar) and want to learn more? Our Screen Printing (Intermediate) course dives into photographic techniques and power-assisted screen-printing tables, while GoccoPro Screen Printing allows you to combine traditional techniques with the ease of a digital screen maker. Riso Printing (Intermediate) is a great follow-on from our beginners course and while you don't need to have completed any other courses to try Wood Engraving with Beth Robertson, it's a great way to explore this technique further after our new introductory workshop.

Photography fun
If you're keen to share your photography and get tips from others, Photography Forum is the place to be. For anyone who would like to learn more before sharing their work, Get Off Auto is a great way to get to grips with your digital camera and Introduction to Adobe Lightroom and Introduction to Adobe Photoshop are designed to help you adjust, improve and organise your images.

A creative weekend
Spend two days in the studio learning a new skill with our weekend courses. Try your hand at Signwriting with Brian Robertson, Reduction Lino Printing with Liz Myhill or Japanese Woodblock Printing and leave with your own artwork to show to your friends and family.

As you can see, it's a packed programme filled with different creative techniques. On completion of a Print Studio course or workshop, you'll be entitled to registration as a Print Studio Registered User. This means you'll be able to use the facilities to practise and develop your skills even further! Find out more here. We hope to welcome you to the studio soon.
