Live from the Met is back on the big screen!

9 September 2021

Live from the Met is back with its 2021-22 season! We're delighted to be screening ten dazzling operas live from the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, featuring star performers Piotr Beczała, Angel Blue, Javier Camarena, Lise Davidsen, Elīna Garanča, Isabel Leonard, Anna Netrebko, René Pape, Matthew Polenzani, Nadine Sierra, and Sonya Yoncheva.

The season begins on 9 October with Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov followed by the historic Met premiere of Terence Blanchard’s Fire Shut Up in My Bones, a poignant and profound story about a young man’s journey to overcome a life of trauma and hardship. December sees Eurydice bring the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus to life, and Cinderella comes to our screens in January, an all-new English translation of Massenet’s Cendrillon, followed by timeless tragedy Rigoletto, which is reimagined in 1920s Europe. In March, Strauss’s enchanting masterpiece Ariadne auf Naxos is followed by the original five-act French version of Verdi’s epic Don Carlos. Soprano Anna Netrebko makes her long-awaited Met role debut as Puccini’s icy princess in Turandot in May, with the story of Donizetti’s haunted heroine Lucia di Lammermoor screening later in the month. Finally, Australian composer Brett Dean’s Hamlet ends the season on a high note in June.

Full season and five opera passes will be available to buy from Wed 15 September at 10:00 for anyone who has a DCA Membership; Membership will also give previous pass-holders the option to keep their seats from 2019-20 if they sign up by 10:00am on Fri 17 September.
