Monday Makes: Plant Projector

5 October 2020

Our Monday Makes are back! Get creative at home with the help of our step-by-step instructions and video tutorials. We'll be sharing a new make at the start of every month and we'd love for you to get involved using #DCAmakes. This Monday Make is inspired by our current exhibition: If Wishes Were Thrushes, Beggars Would Eat Birds by Stuart Whipps.

In this exhibition artist Stuart Whipps explores specific histories within plants and minerals in different parts of the world through a large video work. Narrated by the artist, the video features imagery of industrial scenes as well as minute details of leaf veins and plant structures. While the video plays, slides of drawings and plant and rock specimens are projected onto the screen.

Inspired by this, we're showing you how to make your own projector frame and plant artwork that your can project onto a wall. Watch our video turtorial to find out how:

Follow along with our video or download our step-by-step guide here. We'd love to see your plant projections - share them with us online using #DCAmakes.

Get inspired for this make by visiting Stuart Whipps' exhibition in our gallery. It runs until Sun 15 November and you can book your free tickets here. You can also find more inspiration, as well as Art Activity Packs, in our Create Space - book your free visit here.
