New Cinema Guide: August - September 2018

17 August 2018

Our latest Cinema Guide is out now - read it now here!

As our city prepares to greet new visitors here to visit the iconic V&A Dundee, we would like to add our welcome and best wishes for your trip to Dundee. We are immensely proud to be part of the cultural life of the city at this important moment in its history. We would also like to say hello to all returning and new students in the area and hope that DCA becomes a second home as you embark on your studies. We are always glad to see you: and remember, our standard student ticket price is £5, all day, every day.

As always, our cinema programme features a breadth of new films, from Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman to Bart Layton’s thrilling heist drama American Animals and Lenny Abrahamson’s much anticipated adaptation of Sarah Waters’ novel The Little Stranger. We also shine a light on new European cinema with films like the hilarious French comedy C’est la vie! and Paweł Pawlikowski’s sublime Cold War.

With her new documentary Faces Places gracing our screens, we’re celebrating the films of the grand-dame of French cinema Agnès Varda with a retrospective of her work. And we’re bringing two very special live music/silent film events to Dundee as Stephen Horne returns to accompany the rarely seen Louise Brooks film Prix de beauté and Neil Brand joins us for Buster Keaton’s The General.

Finally, our city is also about to celebrate another milestone: the first ever Dundee Pride on Sat 22 September. We would like to wish the organisers all the best with this momentous celebration. This guide includes a diverse range of films telling LGBTQ stories, including The Heiresses, The Miseducation of Cameron Post, Maurice, Nureyev and the ICO’s Revolt, She Said season, and we are committed to bringing such important films to our screens throughout the year.

We hope to see you in the cinema soon!
