New films from Fri 8 October

8 October 2021

Wow, it's been brilliant to see so many happy film fans at DCA! Action and adventure was the story of the week, as No Time to Die and The Alpinist were both huge hits with our audiences. Now we've got some brilliant new titles to enjoy, including quirky animation Even Mice Belong in Heaven, European dramas My Little Sister and Gagarine, and vintage treats Radio On and the original Dune (1984)

Whatever you see at DCA Cinema, we hope you enjoy it! Please remember to wear your mask during the screening unless eating or drinking – we have masks available at Box Office, feel free to ask if you've forgotten yours.

Here's some more about this week's films from Michael Coull, our Cinema Coordinator:

"As Bond continues his mission to dominate the box office, we also have plenty of alternatives for anyone who fancies something a little different.

"Gagarine is an intoxicating blend of the urbane and the fantastical, taking as its backdrop the real-life Cité Gagarine, a sprawling housing project on the outskirts of Paris. If you’re looking for school holiday fun, Even Mice Belong in Heaven is a gorgeously animated stop-motion delight with a big heart and some big themes, which it tackles with skill.

"We’ve got some cultural treats too, with The V&A Presents Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser, Live from the Met: Boris Godunov and Exhibition on Screen: Raphael Revealed all showing this week.

"On Sunday, we have a preview screening of new Scottish documentary Long Live My Happy Head, a disarmingly funny and moving film about artist Gordon Shaw, who uses the art of comics to explore his relationship with his inoperable brain tumour, which he nicknames Rick. It’s a wonderful film and we’re thrilled that directors Austen McCowan and Will Hewitt will be in attendance to answer your questions.

"Plus, don't miss our Fatal Femmes season to get you in the mood for Halloween, kicking off this Thursday with Under the Skin."
