Say Hello with Art

21 July 2020

Spread cheer to older people in Dundee by sharing your creativity.

We are inviting children to send us artwork and writing that can be included with Dundee Pensioners' Forum's newsletter. They have been sending these out to their members fortnightly as a way to connect during lockdown. Including a drawing with these is a wonderful way to say ‘hello’ with art and reach out to older people who have been isolating.

"A wee letter or a drawing from a young person could be just the thing to lift the spirit..."

Dorothy A McHugh from Dundee Pensioners’ Forum says: "We are keen to encourage inter-generational engagement. So, really concentrating on reaching folk who are not digitally active - they seem to be easily forgotten about these days. A wee letter or a drawing from a young person could be just the thing to lift the spirit during these long shut-in days."

All kinds of artworks are welcome - draw a picture, make a collage, write a poem or make a painting. If you need some inspiration, take a look at our Activity Sheets.

We've already had some great submissions. These collages were created by children at the Coldside Hub in Rosebank Primary School:

This is an ongoing project so feel free to send as many artworks are you like so we can reach as many older people as possible.

Send an artwork and a friendly message and we'll pass it on. You can email it to, post it to DCA Learning Team, Dundee Contemporary Arts, 152 Nethergate, Dundee, DD1 4DY or leave it in Create Space.
