See Think Make Do

28 November 2019

We're delighted to announce further details of our open weekend and display: See Think Make Do. As part of our 20th birthday celebrations, the weekend’s focus is the important work our Learning team do.

Across the weekend, our Learning team will be on hand on the Ground level for a series of activities suitable for the whole family to get involved in. In Gallery 1, there will be a display of work including art, photography, and animated film by: DCA Young Photo Club; Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust ST/ART@DCA; National Deaf Childrens’ Society; Dundee Peer Support Group Terence Higgins Trust; Art at the Start; Dundee International Women’s Centre; Discovery Film Festival Young Ambassadors; Animating Science Project; Wellgate Day Support Centre, and more. The space will be open from 10:00 – 18:00 on both days and is free to enter.

There will be some hands on printing on Saturday 7 December, where visitors can print their own tote bag.  Running from 11:00 – 16:00, this is a drop-in event, suitable for wee ones and families.

Our Art Cart will be out and about until 16:30, this time with an additional ‘Parents Zone’ where caregivers can pick up some takeaway ideas to continue the creative fun at home. During this time the team will be running Vinyl Mural Art, where you can make your own contribution to a vinyl mural on the gallery wall.

Also on Saturday, hourly sessions will be held where you can be a Visual Detective and explore the works on display using the methods our Learning team use with young people to deepen their understanding and appreciation of works of art.

On Sunday 8 December, Art Cart, Vinyl Mural Art and DIY activity sheets will be out until 16:00.

Throughout the weekend, the Learning team will be available to answer questions and discuss the work they do with schools, community groups and outline the opportunities over the next few months at DCA for parents, families, groups, teachers and young people.

All activities are free. Join us for some family fun and to learn about all the exciting work that happens at DCA!
