Virtual Cinema: Clemency

Chinonye Chukwu

17 July 2020

We're delighted to support the online release of gripping drama Clemency from Friday 17 July. When you stream this award-winning film by watching below, or by visiting, DCA receives some revenue from your purchase – just as we would if you bought a cinema ticket at our Box Office!

Written and directed by Chinonye Chukwu, Clemency follows prison warden Bernadine Williams (Alfre Woodard). Years of carrying out death row executions have taken a toll on Bernadine, and as she prepares to execute another inmate, she must confront the psychological and emotional demons her job creates, ultimately connecting her to the man she is sanctioned to kill.

Alice Black, Head of Cinema at DCA, said "We are thrilled to have been invited to participate in the digital launch of Clemency. This vital and important film is absolutely one which we would have wanted to screen at DCA in our cinemas if we were open and it's wonderful to have a chance to share it with our audience in a new way."

Clemency has been rated 15 by the BBFC. Virtual 'tickets' cost £9.99 for a 48-hour rental period.

Please note that Clemency deals with difficult subject matter that some viewers may find distressing. If you have been affected by it we recommend you talking to one of the following organisations:
