At the time of writing I have now been Head of Cinema at DCA for exactly one year and I want to use this introduction as an opportunity to thank you all for giving me such a warm welcome to the city, and for having such a strong commitment to cinema! Cinemas are nothing without their audiences, and it’s been a pleasure meeting so many of you going into or coming out of screenings.

Winter is always a busy time for cinemas and the next three months are no different. Alongside big hitters such as Napoleon and Wonka, and awards-contenders such as Poor Things and All of Us Strangers, we’re delighted to once again be taking part in this year’s French Film Festival and Fokus: Films from Germany season. We’re also proud that our Powell and Pressburger retrospective, which boasts an extensive selection of films by these two pioneering filmmakers, continues all the way through to January and finishes with a special screening of their Scottish-set, I Know Where I’m Going!, in collaboration with V&A Dundee. As we head towards the festive season, rest assured we’ve got a programme of Christmas classics, including what have grown to become annual traditions, It’s a Wonderful Life and The Muppet Christmas Carol, lined up for December.

This is the fourth and final edition of this brochure in its current iteration but heading into the New Year we’re exploring other ways of bringing you details about the films we’re most looking forward to each month. The cinema industry remains in constant flux and faces many ongoing challenges, but we strive to ensure one thing remains consistent – our dedication to bringing you the best films from around the world each day, week, month, and year.
