23 Walks

Paul Morrison

23 Walks is a heart-warming comedy-drama about finding love later in life. As the season changes, and spring turns to autumn, a friendship develops between an unlikely couple which promises hope - but not without complication.

“…might not shout loudly but quietly gets its point across”

Dave (I, Daniel Blake’s Dave Johns) and Fern (the always wonderful Alison Steadman), two older strangers, have been bruised by their individual circumstance. When they first meet walking their dogs in a North London park, sparks fly but not the warm and fuzzy kind. Over the course of twenty-three walks together a gentle romance begins to blossom. As they get to know each other, each opens up in turn about their families and personal history. But Dave and Fern haven’t been completely honest with one another and their future together may be threatened by the secrets they have withheld.

Dealing with ordinary issues of everyday life, 23 Walks is the kind of small British story that might not shout loudly but quietly gets its point across. The film moves at a gentle place, dealing with difficult issues in a genuine, authentic way.
