Ciné Sunday: A Quiet Place Part II

John Krasinski

2018’s A Quiet Place was that rare beast; both a box office smash and a critical darling. It's safe to say that A Quiet Place Part II, which returns to the story of a family resisting the attacks of creepy creatures who use extra sensitive hearing to hunt their human prey, is highly anticipated.

“…we can't wait”

Director John Krasinski's real-life wife, the wonderful Emily Blunt, is back as Evelyn, who is picking up the pieces after the dramatic climax of the first film. Forced to venture outside the well-fortified safety of their soundproofed home, the Abbot family, including son Marcus (Noah Jupe), deaf daughter Regan (Millicent Simmonds) and a newborn baby, undergo a journey which will bring them to the heart of their monstrous hunters’ territory, as well as face-to-face with another survivor, Emmett, played by Cillian Murphy.

The first film used sound design brilliantly, making sure that we the audience felt the tension of every onscreen breath, gasp or stifled scream. With a crying newborn in tow and away from their familiar surroundings, it looks like A Quiet Place Part II will test the nerves of its central family and its audience alike. We can’t wait.

Ramp up the fear with our double-bill: A Quiet Place followed by A Quiet Place Part II on Wed 18 March. Tickets £12, students, under-21s and claimants £9.
