(Une intime conviction)

Antoine Raimbault

Based on a real-life murder trial, this French courtroom thriller from writer-director Antoine Raimbaul brings together a man accused of killing his wife and a woman obsessed with proving his innocence.

"A thrilling and suspenseful watch."

Law professor Jacques Viguier (Laurent Lucas, Lemming) is on trial for his wife Suzanne’s murder. It's been nine years since her disappearance and, though public opinion isn't on his side, he is acquitted due to lack of evidence. But when the prosecution appeals and declares a retrial, it seems like the entire legal system is out to get him. Enter Nora (Marina Fois, Sink or Swim), a single mother and brasserie chef, who is convinced of Viguier’s innocence. Nora has painstakingly gathered everything she could on the first trial and convinces famous lawyer Eric Dupond-Moretti (Olivier Gourmet, Two Days, One Night) to take the case. But Nora is hiding a secret that could damage Viguier’s chances of acquittal…

Raimbault's feature debut is a cracking nail-biter that never lets up, making for a thrilling and suspenseful watch.
