Level 16 (Preview)

The latest feature film from director Danishka Esterhazy is a dystopian prison drama with a feminist slant which has been compared to The Handmaid’s Tale and Black Mirror. 16-year-old Vivien (a notable performance from Katie Douglas) is trapped in The Vestalis Academy, a prison-like boarding school, keeping to herself, until she is reunited with Sophia (Celina Martin), the former friend who betrayed her. Together the girls embark on a dangerous search to uncover the horrifying truth behind their imprisonment. Soon running for their lives, the girls must save themselves or die trying. Through a slowburning and calculated build up, Esterhazy confidently creates and sustains suspense throughout.
