Mounting and Framing

Weekend course

Course dates: Sat 1 & Sun 2 December (two-day course).

Introduction to cutting mounts and making your own frames, using conservation methods and materials. Techniques suitable for framing your prints and photos at home. Bring an item to frame under A4 size.

What will be covered?
The course provides in-depth information and practical instruction on a variety of mounting and framing methods, using conservation quality materials and traditional techniques. Participants will measure and cut a window-mount, cut, assemble and finish a bare-wood frame (with stains, wax etc) to suit the artwork they bring. All the equipment we'll be using is considered practical and affordable for use at home. Full written instructions and a list of equipment and materials suppliers will be provided.

What should I bring?
One photograph, print or other artwork on paper (A4 size or less).

What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes for working in. Please note no sandals or open-toed footwear in the Print Studio. We'll provide aprons.

What should I expect?
Expect comprehensive instructions and guidance on framing artwork with no previous picture framing experience required.
