The Croods 2: A New Age

Joel Crawford

The following screenings will be captioned for d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing audiences: Mon 2 August, 15:30.

It’s been a long wait for the sequel since we first showed the original movie back in 2013, but The Croods 2: A New Age is finally here.

Our favourite prehistoric family have survived all manner of dangers and disasters – from fanged prehistoric beasts to edging past the end of the world – but now the Croods will face their biggest challenge of all: another family. Forced to find a new place to live, the Crood clan discover an idyllic walled-in paradise that meets all their needs and think their problems are solved… except for one thing. Another family already lives there: the Bettermans.

“the Bettermans are clearly a couple of steps above the Croods on the evolutionary ladder…”

With their elaborate tree house, amazing inventions and irrigated acres of fresh produce, the Bettermans are clearly a couple of steps above the Croods on the evolutionary ladder. When they take the Croods in as the world’s first houseguests, it isn’t long before tensions escalate between the cave family and the modern family.

Just when all seems lost, a new threat will propel both families on an epic adventure outside the safety of the wall, one that will force them to embrace their differences, draw strength from each other and forge a future together.

The amazing voice cast of the first film all return – Emma Stone, Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds – and this time they are joined by Peter Dinklage (Game Of Thrones) and Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi). Directed by Joel Crawford, who has previously worked on the megahits Trolls and the Kung Fu Panda films, this is a welcome return to the big screen for some very old – and we mean VERY old – friends.
