The Incomer
Following its enthusiastic reception at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, we’re thrilled to bring this charming new Scottish feature to our screens. Filmed in and around Caithness and with a cast including Scottish stars Gayle Rankin, John Hannah and Michelle Gomez, this comedy of isolation and connection is a perfect treat for the start of autumn.
Set on a remote Scottish island, the film follows siblings Isla and Sandy (Rankin and Grant O’Rourke) who have lived a totally normal life for decades, hunting seabirds, chatting to mythic creatures and defending their isle from dreaded Incomers. Their world is upended with the arrival of Daniel (Domhnall Gleeson), an awkward council worker, come to uproot them to the mainland.
While Daniel brings strange new discoveries, Isla and Sandy teach the outsider the ‘ways of the gull’. Together, the trio are forced to confront the truth about their respective isolation.
The directorial debut from Scottish Filmmaker Louis Paxton, The Incomer is a fresh, darkly funny and wildly entertaining absurdist comedy.
