American Fiction

Duration: 1h57m
Dates: Fri 16 - Thu 22 Feb 2024

The debut film from writer-director Cord Jefferson, American Fiction is a smart comedy that confronts contemporary culture's tendency to reduce people to outrageous stereotypes.

Jeffrey Wright stars as Monk, a frustrated novelist who’s fed up with the establishment profiting from 'Black' entertainment that relies on tired and offensive tropes. To prove his point, Monk uses a pen name to write an outlandish 'Black book' of his own – a book that becomes a bestseller and propels him to the heart of hypocrisy and the madness he claims to disdain.

Witty, wise and moving, American Fiction is one of the must-see films of the season.
