Tales from the Magic Garden - Schools Screening

Duration: 1h 11m

When Tom (4), Suzan (8), and Derek (10) visit their grandfather for the first time since losing their beloved grandmother, they find the house quiet and their grandfather distant. Taking inspiration from her grandmother, Suzan steps into the role of storyteller, creating enchanting tales to bring back the warmth. We deepen into the world of a helpful mysterious cat, a not-so-scary monster, and a daring flying man. As the family bonds through their tales, they discover important lessons about bravery, kindness, and finding light even in life’s darkest moments.

Brought to life with stunning stop-motion animation, this heartwarming film shows how imagination and storytelling can heal, inspire, and bring us closer to the people we cherish most.

UNCRC Article 31: I have a right to rest, relax and play

I am a firm believer in supporting the mental health of our children in our primary classrooms. Change and loss is something that affects lots of our learners and it can be difficult to support this in a sensitive way suitable to them. Alongside some excellent stories, this film is one which tackles the issue with emotional depth, thoughtful design and is appropriate to young learners. I find film in general an extremely useful tool to encourage discussion of difficult issues, and this film is no exception
