This film has been selected by feminist collective Invisible Women for She’s a Maneater! Cannibalism, Consumption and Carnal Appetites, a curated programme of six repertory horror films as part of Dundead Film Festival 2026. American newlyweds, Dr Shane Brown (Vincent Gallo) and his wife June (Tricia Vessey), are newly arrived in Paris, embarking on what promises to be a picture-perfect honeymoon. Unbeknownst to June however, her new husband has private motivations for wanting to visit the most romantic city in the world, which have nothing to do with candle lit dinners and jaunts down the Champs-Élysées. Instead, he’s desperate to track down Coré (Beatrice Dalle), the beautiful wife of a former colleague with whom Shane has become obsessed. But Coré harbours a bloody secret of her own, and despite the desperate efforts of her scientist husband to find a cure, her particular sickness threatens to consume the many lust-stricken men who surround her.

In Trouble Every Day, visionary director Claire Denis (High Life, Beau Travail) plunges fearlessly into the realm of erotic horror, stripping back the civil surface of middle-class society to expose the monstrous appetites lurking beneath. A forerunner to the notorious New French Extremity film movement, Denis’s existential horror is hypnotically strange and boldly transgressive, unafraid to confront our rawest desires and most primal instincts. With each unsettling frame, Denis invites us into a fever dream that is at once seductive and disturbing, teetering always on the narrow edge between pleasure and pain.
