Inglourious Basterds (35mm) + A Perfectly Healthy Situation

Following the killing of her family at the hands of brutal SS colonel Hans Landa (an Academy-Award winning performance from Christoph Waltz), young Shoshanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) goes into hiding as a cinema proprietor in Nazi-occupied France. Forced into hosting the premiere of a new propaganda film, she plots her revenge. Meanwhile the ‘Basterds’, a clandestine group of Jewish-American Nazi-hunters lead by the notorious Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt), hatch their own plans to crash the premiere. 

Quentin Tarantino’s sixth feature is a characteristically violent mashup of the spaghetti western and war epic, full of the many cinematic references and sizzling dialogue exchanges that the director has become famous for. From the iconic opening interrogation scene to the grand, projection booth-set climax, Inglourious Basterds demands to be seen on the big-screen. We are delighted to be doing so for its 15th anniversary in glorious 35mm. 

Inglourious Basterds will be screening alongside A Perfectly Healthy Situation, a short film shot in DCA’s projection booth in 2019. Director Jon Gill conducts an insightful and humorous interview with Chief Projectionist Ian Banks as he screens Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood during its mammoth two-week 35mm run.
