Get ready for some Halloween fun in DCA Cinema as we celebrate the creepiest time of the year.
Dundead Halloween brings you a special selection of six films to enjoy throughout October. Join us for a selection of horror classics, forgotten gems, a surprise preview, special live performances and more.
We begin with a bang at our special 50th anniversary screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which will be accompanied by live drag performances and an introduction by CLIMAX Dundee.
We then have more anniversary screenings as nightmare-inducing children's classic Return to Oz celebrates 40 years and terrifying underground horror The Descent marks 20 years with a new 4K restoration. There are more thrills to be had with the trashy 80s fun of Evilspeak, which we're screening from VHS to celebrate its 'video nasty' status, and a surprise screening that will be the Scottish premiere of an exciting new genre title.
Our season of scares culminates on All Hallows Eve itself with a very special event. Join us on Fri 31 October for The Phantom of the Opera accompanied by a brand new score, commissioned by Dundead and composed and performed by Scottish musicians Andrew Wasylyk and Tommy Perman. This exciting event will also be touring across Scotland from late October to early November and is supported by Film Hub Scotland, part of the BFI’s Film Audience Network, awarding funding on behalf of Screen Scotland and the BFI National Lottery.
When I’m programming for Dundead I always try to offer as much variety as I can, and this year’s Halloween programme is a great example of just how varied and interesting the horror genre is... There’s nothing quite like sharing in watching horror on the big screen and our Dundead audiences always bring so much energy and passion to every screening.
