In the Evening There is Feeling: Listening to the music of film with Morwenna Kearsley

Duration: 1h30m
Dates: Thu 22 Feb 2024 18:00
Location: Create Space

Led by guest artist Morwenna Kearsley and DCA’s Exhibitions team, In the Evening There is Feeling is DCA’s reading and listening group.

It takes its name from Gertrude Stein’s 1914 book Tender Buttons and focuses, in an informal and welcoming way, on texts from the worlds of art and literature, and selected musical works.

For this session as part of Michelle Williams Gamaker’s exhibition we will focus on a variety of influential scores produced for cinema, spanning the 1940s to 1980s. The event and discussion will be led by artist Morwenna Kearsley, who works primarily with photography, text and moving image.

Over the course of this event, we will spend some time listening closely together to a selection of songs and compositions featured in the films that have influenced Gamaker from a young age.

Digital copies of the track list will be sent out to all participants after they have booked a place. You can listen to the selected music on YouTube and stream it on many other online platforms.
