Red Rooms (Scottish Premiere) + short film

Red Rooms is a stylish and thrillingly intense psychological voyage into the heart of the dark web. 

Juliette Gariépy gives a mesmerising performance as Kelly-Anne, a young woman who attends the court hearing of a man suspected of filming and distributing snuff videos through the dark web. The narrative turns are best enjoyed without any prior warning, but this is an incisive, razor-sharp film which holds up a mirror to the way society consumes true crime, and also leans into the terrifying potential of the internet. 

The film has already won awards from multiple festivals, including for Gariépy’s spell-binding central turn. Plante’s icy direction is superb throughout – this is one of the most disturbing films in this year’s line-up, and yet it is never sensationalist in its approach, with nary a drop a blood onscreen, instead diving headfirst into the minds of its characters. 

With a release later this year, Red Rooms is a film which begs to be seen on the big screen; see it early and find out why critics are describing it as “disturbingly brilliant” (Deadline) and “digital horror at its finest” (Dread Central). 

Red Rooms will screen with the short film CHOMP,  a weird, funny and unsettling short film co-directed by and starring Cricket Arrison, who some of you may recognise from Give Me Pity! which we screened last year.
